In Chicago they are reporting that kids with the flu are also having complications not normally associated with the flu. Today they reported that two children had encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) that resulted from them originally having the flu.

Another complication that has been appearing alongside with the flu are staph infections. The CDC has not seen this before either. You don't usually die from a staph infection, but there have been reports of staph infection deaths.

You can normally get rid of a staph infection with an antibiotic, but the strains they are seeing are drug-resistant. This drug resistance is from morons that get a prescription for an antibiotic and then stop taking it when they feel better so they can use the rest of the pills the next time they feel bad. Doing this doesn't completely kill all of the germs in your body, and the ones that remain mutate into stronger germs that are not affected by antibiotics.
