Right now all three of them are on sale. The sale prices are $89.99 (7 gallons), $109.99 (12 gallons), and $129.99 (13 gallons). We put about 4 gallons of water per day into the air! It is a routine that every night before I go to bed to top of the water tanks.
It is important to only buy an evaporative humidifier. These types have wicks that soak up water, and than a fan blows over the wick to speed up water evaporating into the air. Only water evaporates, thus leaving minerals (calcium, fluride, iron, etc.) trapped on the wick. At the end of the humidifying season, just through away the old wick and put in a fresh one.
The humidfiers that use ultrasonic vibrations, or create a visible cold mist put the minerals into the air. There are two things wrong with this. 1) You will breath in the minerals, and this can cause more harm than the humidity causes good. 2) You will get an annoying fine white dust over your house the more you use it.
The warm mist humidifiers that you commonly see in drug stores for $15 - $20 don't have the minerals-in-the-air problem because the minerals accumulate on the two electrodes that are used to make the warm steam. This accumulation needs to be cleaned off about every 2 or 3 weeks, otherwise it will slowly reduce the amount of moisture it can put into the air. These types of humidifiers also don't have an electronic sensor to control how much humidity is in the air.
You want to have the relative humidity between a 40% and 50%. Less than than and you aren't getting the full benefits. More than that and you will encourage mold growth, and condensation on the windows.
Now go buy one!!
