We watched The Italian Job last night. What a fun movie! Very well paced. It never got slow and boring, but it also didn't overwhelm you with constant plot twists, chase scenes, explosions, etc. It balanced everything out.

Just a few neat things I learned from the "making of" clips on the DVD:

1. The helicopter playing chicken with the Mini Cooper under the bridge is really flying. It is not a prop on a hydraulic lift.

2. The actor playing Handsome Rob was actually driving the boat in the Venice chase scene! What makes it totally amazing is that he only had one day of training for driving the boat, and before that had never been on a boat!

3. When the three Mini's drive down into the subway, they are using electric motors because the subway people didn't want gasoline engines down there. Also, the actors are the ones driving the cars down the steps and into the subway, not stunt people.

I didn't realize it was a remake of a 1969 film of the same name. I just added the original to our Wal-Mart on-line DVD rental list.
