Happy New Year!!!
Our plans didn't go exactly has we envisioned last night. We left work early and went to Michael's for our food. But when we got home I felt exhausted from my cold, so I laid down for just a little bit. I was hard asleep until 9:30 PM!
They ran out of shrimp, so I got bay scallops instead, but I didn't cook them last night. Instead I pan fried three chicken breasts in sesame oil, then cut them in slices and we dipped them in spicy peanut sate sauce. That's about all we ate last night. We were up until about 1:30 AM.
We are just getting out of bed now. Sheri is going to go out and see if she can find some place open. We forget to get sausage for our stuffing. I will get the pork loin roasting in the rotisserie.
We didn’t rent movies for last night and today because we are going to watch the DVD movies we got for Christmas: Steve Martin in "The Jerk", the collector's editions of "Pulp Fiction" and "The Reservoir Dogs".
We think we are going to see The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers on Friday. Sheri is really excited about seeing it. She even passed up an opportunity to see it when she was in Columbus so that she could see it with me for the first time.
I expected the grocery stores in Chicago to have good authentic pickles. They don't. My definition of that is that the ingredient list should not list vinegar. The sourness should come from brine that the manufacturer has been developing for years; kind of like sour dough bread starter. Well at Michael's we found several varieties of pickles that fit that description. We got a jar of pickles that were imported from Poland. Very good. Sheri even liked them, and said she could see herself eating one by herself. She doesn't like "pickles". We also got a jar of sauerkraut imported from Germany that has no vinegar. That is also very good. That is to go with our pork loin.
I was able to schedule a doctor appointment for myself tomorrow. I am a little overdue for a periodic checkup, and as long as I have the day off I might as well get that crossed off my list.
We have not even had the TV's on yet today, so we might have missed the Rose Bowl parade. I will see if it is still on when I go downstairs to get the pork going.
Mom called last night just after midnight Eastern time from the party in Columbus. It sounded like she was having the time of her life! We were playing the Simpson's trivia game at the time. Sheri won.
