Over the last 15 years or so I think I have pretty consistently followed the patter of:

1. Subscribing to National Geographic magazine.
2. When it is time to renew after 12 months I think "Eh, it enjoyed it OK, but not enough to renew again.
3. Wait three years.
4. Repeat.

I am almost at step two right now.
