Our thistle sock has become SO popular with the finches that we have to refill it about every other day! It is not uncommon now to see four birds hanging on the sock at one time, and just about anytime we look outside during the day there will be at least one bird feeding.

The species that we have been attracting is the American Goldfinch.

I want to place a garbage can lid under the sock for a day and see what the ratio of hulls to uneaten seeds is. This morning there were four mourning doves sitting under the sock eating thistle seeds that had fallen to the ground.
